More About Richard
Richard grew up in Cambridge and Suffolk attending local Primary and Middle Schools. He attended a brand new Comprehensive School - Samuel Ward Upper School in Haverhill, Suffolk where he developed a passion for Design and Technology and enjoyed being part of a small, developing community of students and teachers.
In order to be able to continue designing and making he worked for a furniture designer and during a GAP year worked at St Chris - his first introduction to the School. He then studied for a degree in Education at Nottingham Trent. Having gained a first class Honours degree he returned to Letchworth Garden City, initially working with the Charity 'Education 2000'.
Having taught Science, Drama and CDT to A-level and having run a VI Form Boarding House he and his wife, Jenny moved to run a Boarding House at a Prep School in Lincolnshire where Richard was also the Head of Design Technology and taught Science. From there Richard, Jenny, Chloe and Guy moved to St John's College School in Cambridge where Richard and Jenny ran the Boarding House and where Richard was Head of Design Technology, Director of Pastoral Care and Deputy Head. In January of 2004 Richard became Head of The Junior School at St Chris and in January of 2007 Richard became the overall Head of St Christopher School in Letchworth Garden City. He is also a fully qualified Civil and Commercial Mediator.

Richard was a member of The Society of Heads Professional Development Committee having been Chairman of The Society for the Academic Year 2013-2014 and a Board member for 4 years after that. He is now an Honorary member. This is a Society of over 100 Heads of Independent Schools and further details can be found at www.thesocietyofheads.org. He has also been a Director of The Independent Schools Council and is currently a School Inspector with the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Richard sits on the Governing boards of 2 Schools and has also served as a Governor of d’Overbroeck’s Oxford and of The North Herts College Corporation. He is a Fellow of The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.
